A Bright Spot

I had fifteen people over for dinner the other day. They all stayed till very late, so I can only assume that they enjoyed themselves. Aren't dinner parties great?

I think dinner parties are amazing and lots of fun if planned properly. The organizer should be very organized and should plan for the worst and have several different plans in case things flop. It definitely is a good thing that they stayed long, it means they enjoyed themselves and will always be willing to come back:)

Yes, and you can make the worst dinner ever, but if you have good company and great conversation that dinner party can go on for hours. Just last Friday my friends and I had a gathering and were up till 4am just chatting, reminiscing, sorting out couples issues, battle of the sexes type thing and the only reason we all went to bed was because we put a time limit on ourselves otherwise we would have seen the sunrise with that wonderful conversation!

What it all adds up to is that people don't take enough time to pass the time of day and listen to each other any more. That's what makes dinner parties the best occasions to renew friendships, and remind you why you like your friends.

I belong to a group of friends who range in age from 72 to 3 - grandparents down to grandchildren. We try to get together 5 or 6 times a year to eat and visit and play games. Sometimes it's an outdoor BBQ and the games are physical and sometimes it's an indoor buffet and we play various board games. Whatever your crowd likes it is so wonderful to gather and enjoy each others company. That's what makes life special.
