I had fifteen people over for dinner the other day. They all stayed till very late, so I can only assume that they enjoyed themselves. Aren't dinner parties great?

This has been the mildest summer I can remember - I LOVE it!

I know an 85 yr old woman that i visit often just to talk to her. She always tells me to not fuss and fight, because God is already fighting for us. She tells me to find the funny things in life, and laugh all day. She always manages to make me remember the good things in life and I always feel happy and grateful when i leave her house.

I saw my step-grandfather today, he lives far away and visits about once a year. Searching around my room I dug up a fossil I had found on a trip I took with him when I was nine. I really enjoyed reminiscing with him.

Quite a few years ago I was standing at a bus stop waiting for a bus.a child begger came to me asking for some money,I just ignored him but he kept standing there.since my bus did not come for about half an hour I started talking to him.He told me that HE made twenty bucks everyday begging on the streets and he used to eat only once a day and had to go hungry at night and yet he looked so happy and in a jolly mood that I thought I must consider myself lucky and be happy like him.

I went away on vacation for the weekend. We quarreled a bit. But in the end we all had the best time. We visited a few waterfalls. We went kayaking. It was a great escape.

My fiancee just took me to Panera Bread for a Fuji Apple Chicken Salad and then gave me the best backrub. :) Nothing like feeling loved!

Everyday I get up and thank God that I am alive. I thank Him for the fact that there is food in my kitchen so I can eat breakfast. I thank Him for the electricity and running water I have to shower with. I thank Him for the clean mountain air that I breathe. And then I say, "God, now all I need is a million bucks!"

I think it is funny that my wife looks forward to getting ready for bed every night because she is so tired. When she puts on her ragged old pajamas that are as thin as toilet paper she is so exited that she does a little dance. Seeing her in those old un-attractive rags makes me fall in love with her all over again every evening.

I was driving home last month after a particularly bad year, a "year of Job", as some would say. I was in a new place, and missing friends, and my old dog, and tired of figuring out how to exercise, and wanting to find a way to volunteer and give back, and not sure how to meet new people. Suddenly, it all came together like a burst in my head - walk dogs at the local humane society! I got on their website, not knowing if that was something they even needed, and there, listed under "current volunteer needs" was "DOG WALKERS". I'm doing it now two mornings a week, and it has made all the difference for turning everything around. I highly recommend it to anyone:).
