When my nephew tells me......"I love you, your my best friend", I melt.

When I was a child, I had a very loving aunt who treated me extremely well. She would always play card games and board games with me and do everything possible to make me smile. She was a wonderful woman and I miss her very much.

I stood up for myself today, which is very unlike me. It felt really good.
|

I was at a local house show dancing and enjoying the music. I met a great guy and really hit it off with him, when he asked for my phone number I accidentally gave him the wrong number. A friend suggested I write an "I saw you" in our local paper. The guy who threw the house show saw the ad in the paper and showed his friend. 5 years later and we are happily married.

I went to the pet store trying to decide what kind of pet I would like to have. I looked at the fish, and the lizards, the turtles and the frogs. There was a bright red tomato frog in a terrarium, facing out toward the aisle where I was standing. I stopped to say hello. As I went to leave, his little front foot came up to touch the glass, as if to say, "Don't leave - take me with you!" And that's the story of how Beefsteak, the tomato frog, came into my life.

Last year I had major ankle surgery and was bed-ridden for several days. My wife was patient and took care of me. Since I was basically immobile, taking a shower was not an options. My wife devised a method of washing my hair from a basin in the old fashioned way and it felt so good to have this basic thing done for me.

I was a very new and very poor teacher heading toward an Indian reservation in the American southwest--in my very old car. When it broke down in the mountains, I assumed I would have to walk at least twenty miles. After a few hours, motorists, both Native American and white, slowed to a stop and worked together to get my car back up and running.

So today I had $40 to go groceries....no more. I have my daughter bringing some friends over to spend the night and I knew that I probably would spend quite a bit more than $40. So as I was driving to the grocery store, i remembered that we have a well stocked Dollar Store in town and I thought I'd give it a shot.
To my surprise they had everything I needed, except for fresh fruit, of course and meat but I didnt want any meat.
I had my cart totally full to the top and hoped that I hadn't gone over.
The lady rang up all the items. My total was $40 and some change...ha!!! I had the change so it wasnt a problem. I LOVE Dollar Stores!
