So I was taking my second big med school test today and my roommate sitting next to me kept chuckling. I was puzzled, none of the exam questions seemed to have anything to do with the material we learned in class. Turned out she was chuckling because she was puzzled too. The whole class was puzzled -- good to know I am in good company.

Whenever I have a long day at work, I look forward to spending a peaceful night at home...to sleep early and rest. But when I come home and my two beautiful kids run towards me while I enter the house, all my tensions go away...and all that matters to me is to spend a loving night with them playing and cuddling..until we all fall asleep.

I went hiking with a new friend. We just got on a train, chose a small town and hiked away from it. We saw a majestic castle. Then we sat by a gorgeous lake and watched the ducks dive in to catch fish. The sun was shining and the wind was blowing.

If we care about those close to us in location and spirit and they care about those close to them and those people care about those close them ... a ripple effect will occur and the world will be better for us all.

Apparently there is still good in people. I'm a college student, so sometimes money is tight. But once I needed a few small things done on my car and the local mechanic I go to often was really helpful. He didn't charge me a penny for what he did because as he put it, "you kids have enough to worry about." It might not have been much monetarily, but it was very kind.

When I am tired at work,I carry a picture of my grandchildren all together laughing. It keeps me grounded, and makes me thankful for the people in my life.

When our boys were already teenagers, my husband and I were unexpectedly blessed with a beautiful daughter. It's sometimes a little crazy starting over with a young child again, but it's totally worth it. My middle son summed it up quite well one day when he said "I'm glad we have her now, she can always make me smile."
